No getting away from it, the first time Fareham come up against a good side they deserved to lose. Once certain Moneyfields players had stopped fouling our players after conceding a dodgy penalty at the start of the second half they controlled the game and deservedly ran out winners. Crowd favourite Owen Elias had a marvellous game, dominating defensively and scored with two free kicks, the second of which Browner will want to forget.
Early days and it is no disgrace to lose to Moneyfields, even if they have only been going since the early 1990's in present guise and I hope I am wrong but this was no top three team display.
Gary Austin is a speedy quality forward, player of last season and is utterly wasted playing on the right hand side of this set up. This is also the second game in a row we lost control in mid field as the second half progressed.
Who would want to be a non league football manager. Plenty to think about Mr Parr, perhaps back the drawing board. Got lucky against Blackfield and Langley but luck ran out today. |

Results can always swing on a single incident and today there were several.
Town could/should have been a goal to the good in the first minute as a weak shot from Lindsey bounced back off the post only for Austin to bobble a tame shot straight to the keeper and save his embarrassment.
The penalty was a bit dubious but almost immediately Town should have been two up but with all the goal to aim at Lindsey scooped the ball into the keeper's arms. If there had been any power it would surely have been a second goal.
Maybe the visitors should have been down to ten men shortly afterwards too. Savage has never been a saint and his elbow on Cotton was typical - how come when he played for Town that would have got him sent off, but not today?
Two goals and a man down and the outcome might have been so different?
Moneyfields deservedly fought their way back to victory and always seemed to be first to the loose ball with Elias hitting two cracking free-kicks - Town doesn't seem to have anyone who can strike a dead-ball at the target.
Any side that doesn't take the easy chances usually regrets it and so it was today.
Best of luck to Moneys in the next round at home to Hungerford - I see V.T. won there today. |

Green Curtains- get out from behined your curtains Moneys were the better team get real they did not touch the ball in the 1st 20 mins off each half.
2 goals from 25 yds + except for the chance in the 1st half when Prior should have scored did they have any other chances?
Lindsey should have had 3 today and the game would have been over.
And about Austin you could not play him and Torr up front together and I thought the manager was right to go with Torr and Lindsey.
This team is better than the one I saw Duncan Pratt in charge of last season and I will give the team my support and so should you. |

Im sorry i dont agree, if Austin had started up front we would of been 2-0 up in the first half easy, So you think he cant play up front with Torr play him with Lindsey, for two years he has been towns top scorer and he is being wasted.
Moneys were not better then us and we will finish higher then them, if we play the right players in the right position |

Matt Parr is a very genuine bloke ( and thus far a winner ) and his players think very highly of him and deservedly so.
Who plays where is a matter of an opinion and supporters will enjoy debating this until the cows comes home.
Mine is that Matt has more quality players than he has ever had before and he is trying to play them all in same team. When I say back to the drawing board, I meant he needs to consider playing players in their best positions and if this means only two forwards, or Chapman and one other at the back then so be it.
On reflection I accept that taking any of the chances on offer would have produced a different result, it was just last night I was so disappointed for the team.
This could be just the result to spark this team into achieving their potential. |

really dissapointed.we always seem to lose the big games.thought we wasted the first half by overhitting long balls down the channels.the cams pitch is not great but passing the ball around the back four then hoofing it especially with the wind was for me the wrong way to go.we are a side capable of pass and move, which was what we were doing in the pre match warm up!!when we scored first we carried on as before but moneys stepped up a gear and for me passed the ball quicker with purpose and deserved the win.as for the gary austin debate matt has really got to for me push gary more into the centre.not once did we pass the ball out to him on the right to use his pace instead we are obsessed with the long diagonal ball from both full backs.
we must use this set back as quick reality check.having said all this we were missing gav jones, hayes and murphy from the previous games who have played well so far.really want town to have a great season so lets all stick together and i,m sure matt and co will make sure we take six points from moneys this season.up the town!!
