| Some interesting old photos in saturdays Southampton "Pink".A Dick Semark managed Town squad of 1995 including the likes of Mottashead;Odey and Andy Fisher going through his blonde haired phase. Also includes long serving and evergreen Jim Mackay who does not appear to get any older. Is he on anti-aging pills? Also photos of Fareham Centipedes 1972 and Fleetlands 1989 including a VERY young looking Paul Grant and a young looking Dave Taviner respectively. |

Not a photo, but whilst trawling through the old copies of the News yesterday came across this from 1956, some 19 years before we actually moved to cams. Who said the march of progress waits for no man!
Hopeful Moves To Obtain New Ground For Club(Sports Mail 17/11/1956)
By Janus
Good news for Fareham Town this week, a home draw at last in the FA Amateur Cup if Winchester were beaten in todays replay and long awaited developments about a new ground for the club.
Last week, the Fareham Town management committee agreed to open a development fund and put an initial £200 into the account. It is hoped the supporters club will add to this fund before the end of the season and that donations will start to come from other local sources.
Then at Tuesdays Fareham Council meeting came the news that £3050 is to be spent on initial work at the Cams Alders ground which is to be Fareham’s new sports and recreation centre.
The money is to be spent on draining and seeing 5 acres for a football ground, but I understand it wil not be possible for any work to start until next summer when the lease on Cams Alders expires.
This means that assuming the money is available next year, play could not possibly start on the ground until season 1958-59. Still it is a sign of progress in the right direction. |

Good stuff Splodge.
Its a pity that they still only had £3050 in 1974 to put in the land drains across the whole site, the outside pitches ( rugby included ) are only fit for ducks to this day.
So Mr P can you predict from the pages of history if we will get promotion this coming season. |

Let's just say, that if we dont, it wont be from lack of effort on Matt and Karl's part.
Tell your friends to jump on and enjoy the ride
