Apologies, I had already left for Cams by the time your message was posted.
Despite all the rain, the game was never in doubt and thanks to a hat- trick from Graham Lindsey, Town saw off Brockenhurst 3-1 in an encounter that was closer than the scoreline suggests.
The main talking point of the night was the "performance" of the referee. When I saw who it was earlier in the week I cringed and he lived upto his reputation and performance with a performance that had everyone looking perplexed. I am sorry but he just did not have a clue.
The FA tell us we need to respect referees, which I am all for, but after clowns like tonights, it is oh so hard to want to give this referee in particular any respect.
I think I could spend the next 24 hours typing up his decisions, lack of them, but lets just say come the end of the game, even the 2 Assistant's were scratching their heads in bewilderment.
Now onto the footy - Brock dominated the first half and scored from a extremely controversial penalty. The visiting officials were heard to say "WTF was that for?" like the rest of the crowd were saying. They had a few other chances too, their no11 was having a good game.
Then right on half time from a rare attack we equalised through Lindsey following a neat build up down the right.
The opening stages of the 2nd half were pretty even with both sides playing plenty of entertaining football whilst chances at both ends were at a premium until the 65th minute when Town were gifted the lead, visiting keeper Max Frampton simply forgot to kick the ball and Lindsey was left with a tap in.
75th minute and it was 3-1 and shock of shocks a goal direct from a corner, Jimmy Cuthberts corner was met by a glance off Lindsey's forehead.
Woodward and Lindsey again had great chances after that to increase the lead, but that would not have been fair on Brockenhurst.
Matt Wiltshire on his home debut once more oozed confidence from every pore and looks an astute signing. |

great team performance.the work rate from everybody was right up there.what a difference from the new milton game.the longer the game went on the stronger we became.chasing lost causes was rewarded by graham lindsey causing frampton the brocks keeper to mis kick ,which enabled graham to run through and roll the ball in for our second goal.credit to brockenhurst for contributing to an entertaining game to watch.the standard of football certainly made up for the poor referee who totally baffled both sets of players and supporters.the penalty awarded against us was for me the worst decision i have ever seen, matt jones must be gutted to superbly tackle the brocks dangerman no.11 only to have the ref award a penalty.second half tor spicer broke down the left only to be brought down by the brocks right back.what did the ref do,yes give us a free kick but then went and spoke to one of our players and totally ignored the brocks offending player.back to the team and finally to say the confidence is growing and the results speak for themselves.keep this going now ,us supporters really appreciate it when the team put in the effort like they did last night.
